Apple Will Likely Be Refreshing iPods At September 12th Media Event, Death Of The iPod Classic?
One of the biggest questions on peoples minds after Apple sent out invitations for a September 12th event was
will the iPod share the stage with the next-generation iPhone? 9To5Mac
indeed seems to think so as they are reporting that a string of new
iPods will almost certainly be present. Unfortunately details are pretty
scarce on what the fruit company plans to do with these new iPods, but
it is believed that there will be at least two updated iPod lines and
possibly even a third.
The first line of iPods likely to be updated is the iPod Nano.
From previous reports we can gather the iPod Nano will see Wi-Fi
connectivity and increased storage space. The second line is the iPod
Shuffle, which should maintain its current form factor and also see
increased storage options. As for the uncertain third line of iPods, it
is not known whether Apple plans to release a completely brand new iPod,
which would essentially be a larger version of the iPod Nano (see image
below) or whether Apple will bump the iPod Touch specs.

We feel that Apple will discontinue to the iPod Classic, and refresh
the iPod Nano, iPod Shuffle and iPod Touch with the new mini dock
connector and more storage options. We’re fairly certain that Apple’s
next new device will be the iPad Mini, not a new line of iPods as well.
If anything the only way we can see this rumor of a tweaked version of
the iPod Nano would be if Apple completely re-designed the iPod Touch.
This is purely speculation at this point, but we will soon find out
what Apple has up its sleeve at the September 12th media event. Please
